The Secret Need of Modern Women- An Insight for Living

An Insight for Living

nurtureGot anybody's attention yet? You know who you are. You love what you do. You can't wait to....coach, see therapy patients, work on your website, write in your blog, go on Facebook, create a new class, write a new e-book, etc.

You have working relationships with family, friends, partners, etc. You exercise several times a week and eat healthy. You have everything you ever wanted. So all your needs are satisfied, right?
  • Then why do you feel a little bored?
  • Why can't you quite find the juice to express gratitude in a feeling way for all that you have?
  • Why do you feel a little resentful of your loving partner when he/she is around and hasn't done anything untoward?
The Secret:
YOU DON'T HAVE ANY ALONE TIME WHERE ALL YOU DO IS NURTURE YOURSELF. This is truly an insight for living.

No work. No giving - except to yourself. No supporting - except yourself. And, most important, no self-judgment about how much time you are wasting and could be doing something else because "I'm happy and lucky", right?

It's supposed to be an OLD story that women are only nurturers. Many fought for equal rights. Most of us observe that men watch sports or play sports or have a hobby with no guilt - just enjoyment. That is a man's insight for living. Well, that's one of our rights also.

What day are you going to take for yourself? Or, what hour? And what are you going to do that is just for you?

Keeping a Gratitude Journal

Expressing Gratitude - Start Now

One of the ways to stay focused on the habit of expressing gratitude is by writing in a gratitude journal.

The benefits:
  • Being grateful for what you have right now opens a window for more blessings to enter into your life.
  • When you write down what you are grateful for, it puts things in an entirely new perspective.
  • You start to realize how abundant your life is right now at this very moment.
Keeping a gratitude journal keeps you focused on all that is good in your life and subconsciously you begin to expect more good things. It can be a simple notebook or a decorative journal. Your journal is very personal and should reflect who you are. Don't worry about writing the wrong thing or any spelling errors. Let your thoughts flow and write whatever first comes to mind. If you experience writer's block, start by writing..."I am so happy and grateful for..." Start out with a list of at least 10 things you're grateful for. Try this out for 30 days and your awareness for prosperity and abundance in your life will greatly increase.

I met a beautiful, vibrant woman recently who weighed 88 pounds, in a wheelchair given a week to live. That was 20 years ago! She met Dr. Bernie Siegel, who taught her to keep a gratitude journal. She said the first day she could only find one thing of the five he suggested she list. So repeated "I am grateful for the ray of sun through the clouds" five times. She said by day 30 she had over 130 things on her list. She is a traditional health person, as is Bernie Siegel, and she teaches all her patients the power of keeping a gratitude journal.

Expressing Gratitude Brings Me Closer to Myself

gratitude2I am 72. I was born during a World War - another "war to end all wars". I've lived through the Korean War, the Viet Nam War, entrenched fear of Communism, Middle East Wars, September 11th, jobs I hated, a challenging marriage, teenagers with troubles - sometimes very big ones, financial losses, early stages of breast cancer and many other events both personal and world events.

How can I experience all of this and still feel happy, joyous, grateful and optimistic with an inner knowing that we are all in for amazing wonders of planetary transformation? How can I have such a great life with so much expanding love of family, friends and complete strangers? How can I be seeing material success beginning to occur even within the current economic climate? Am I different than others? Am I more blessed? More special?

I think not. I think that on a personal level I have begun to understand how life works. My experience has shown me to:
  • learn how to focus on what's good
  • learn how to let go of the old negative tapes I've picked up from various places in my life
  • tell the truth of how I feel - at least to myself
  • keep expressing gratitude
  • know for sure what makes me happy
By doing these I  not only create the life I want, I contribute to the positive vibrations on the planet and get to be a part of the solution.

I am no different than you. We are all one. We all effect each other by our very eye blink. With all that said, I will tell you what I am grateful for:
  • I am grateful that my 79-year-old husband thinks I'm hot and just asked me to sit on his lap before he took off to teach a couple hundred inner city kids Physics.
  • I am grateful that I have 5 beautiful grandchildren, 4 wonderful kids with various amazing partners, step-children, friends, clients - love abounding!
  • I am grateful I am my right weight and able to maintain it and love myself in the doing.
  • I am grateful for our Wii Fit and that I am willing to use it quite often.
  • I am grateful for my  smartphone and my  iMac.
  • I am grateful for all the wonderful connections I've made all over the world by doing social networking.
  • I am grateful for knowledge of how to feed my body and keep it healthy.
  • I am grateful for all the wonderful teachers I've had including John Gray and Barbara deAngelis.
  • I am grateful that I could go on and on and on.
Expressing gratitude works to create the life of your dreams. What are you grateful for?

Now that you're done, I have one thing left I'd like you to do.

Three Magic Secrets - the Movie

The First 37 Years - Covered in the Movie

I guess I've learned to make a story out of my life. This movie is the story of a part of my life. Making it into a story, has helped me learn what was good about the hard parts. Writing and producing it the way I did felt like giving birth to my 5th child. That child has taught me many things about life and myself. It is said, "from the mouth of babes".

The Fifth Child Is Born as We All Are - as a Result of Pain

Twelve years ago my husband and I found ourselves living in Las Vegas, a very unlikely place for someone who hates heat and always said she never would want to live there - me. Some people experience the results in their lives that have people saying to them, "Be careful what you wish for" but I seem to have to stay away from "I never..." kinds of statements because then they seem to happen.

So we had just gone through one of the hard parts in life. For 5 years we ran a workshop training company for John Gray, the Men Are from Mars guy and that company ended abruptly and kind of crazily. Many things changed in our lives including no longer being able to afford our lovely home in N. California. Fortunately, my husband was offered the job in Las Vegas and to Las Vegas we went.

So since I had to do something in Las Vegas out of the heat, I decided to see if I could write a book. It was a sometimes frustrating journey but I did it! I learned that I have creative talent that I had no idea I had.

The Fifth Child's Frustrating Years

I also had no idea how to market the book, so it sat in boxes in our house until along came the idea of making it into a Powerpoint presentation with movement and music.

That also took many, many months only to find out that Powerpoint files were really hard to show on the internet. Eventually I had it made into a flash movie which took a whole year long journey in itself and was fraught with much drama between me and the gentleman who was making it for me.

Meanwhile things got way better in our lives. We were back in Los Angeles, crazed and then uncrazed over the loss of all of our money but life kept improving as my husband found his fifth career at age 70, teaching high school Physics which he does until today, seven years later, and I am about to start training my thirteenth coach.

The Fifth Child Grows Up

Yesterday I was able to convert that flash movie that took a year to be done into a movie I can easily post anywhere from youtube to facebook or right here on my website. For that I am exceptionally grateful. At the same time in this my 70th year on the planet (I will have my 70th birthday on January 4, 2013) I am now known as the Wise Fairy God Mother and I finally believe it is the most appropriate title for this formerly very low self esteem woman, the Woman-Who-Was-the-Girl-Who-Was-the-Light. And I am grateful.

Note: If you want to find out who the Woman-Who-Was-the-Girl-Who-Was-the-Light and the Wise Fairy God Mother are, watch the movie. It's up there on the menu bar. It'll take you about 11 minutes and put your speakers on.

Feeling Joy

joyI got up this morning at my usual 4 a.m. Yes, that is quite early but it's become a routine fueled by age, sleep patterns and a desire for my husband and I to ease into our day leaving time for coffee and chat. Our chat most days is a dual attempt that serves two purposes. One is to keep us connected so that the busyness of life does not end up being friendly strangers in our own house and two is to give us time to work on what we're grateful for or some topic that will end up leaving us feeling grateful and ready to face our day in a positive way.

So today my day is just the usual - straighten house, shower, handle phone appointments, answer emails, exercise, work on my new course videos, work on my blog. All of this is quite usual. Some days I have clients. Some not. Some days I attend 12-Step meetings. Some not.

I guess our morning get-together worked because I am feeling free floating joy. I'm learning that if I allow the Universe it's timing, I need not fret or worry about anything. It all will come. I just have to do my part. And, hallelujah, that is very rarely hard any more.  There was a time that that was not true but all the trudging has really put me on the road to happy destiny.

Finding Inner Peace Through Understanding

Forgiveness and Inner Peace

inner peaceTo embrace inner peace you must release any need to be forgiven. Many people hold onto resentment and anger and refuse to change until the person(s) who harmed them seeks their forgiveness. This attitude keeps them locked in fear and causes them to deny their own inner peace, their own soul, and Source.

If we look at the big picture, we are all souls exploring this Universe. Whatever we experience with others is what we have chosen - at least on a soul level. Usually, the people that cause us the most heartache have the greatest attachment for us on a soul level. We have a powerful bond of love with them and choose to go through our great human dramas with them.  Sometimes finding inner peace when we are in a powerful relationship is hard.  Fear can set in and hold us back from finding our true selves.

Fear is the opposite of love and inner peace.  We cannot experience fear  when we come from a place of love and awareness. In order for us to take control of where we are, we have to accept that what we are experiencing was created by our own actions and learn from them.   We come to realize we don't need to seek forgiveness but to embrace gratitude about what we have experienced - so that we can understand more about creating with the energies of love not of fear.

When you allow yourself to embrace gratitude towards those you have co-created your experiences with, you will open to the truth of your inner peace. When you finally understand that whole paradigm from a place of learning and understanding, your creations will no longer control you, the creator. It is only then that you will be free to be who you really are - a powerful, unlimited source of inner peace.

Did you know that feeling gratitude connects us?

Gratitude Connects Us

EARTHQUAKES CA LOS ANGELESDid you know that feeling gratitude connects us? I live in Los Angeles. In 1994, we had a 6.7 magnitude  earthquake centered in Northridge. I remember waking up to my bed being lifted and shaken was one of the scariest experiences of my life.  It was as if a giant had picked me up and dropped me again. I feel scared now as I write this as I still live and love Los Angeles.

After quickly dressing and getting out of the apartment, checking in with neighbors and notifying children of our safety, my husband and I decided to take a long walk around the area to see what damage had occurred.

We were amazed to find everyone we walked by smiling and exchanging greetings and warm words with us.

This was L.A. No one ever looks at you as you walk by (unless you’re a beautiful young person.) No one ever smiles. Only  street people asking for a handout ever talk to you.

But the gift we received was connecting to these L.A. strangers’ humanity. Under their fear and apprehension, everyone we met felt as we did – grateful to be alive and wanting to connect. Before this earthshaking event I always thought of Los Angeles as a pretty unfriendly place.

Now when I see  people I don’t know no matter where I am, I remind myself who’s really inside the strangers I see. We don’t have to wait until earthquakes and 9/11 tragedies to have gratitude towards our loving, smiling neighbors.

And don't wait for the next death or illness in your own family to tell and show the people in your family that you love them and are grateful they are in your life.

How to Get More from the Law of Attraction

They Never Tell You This Part

Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 6.39.29 AMThe more we can learn about the Law of Attraction the more we can apply it to our lives.  It seems their are parts of the law that most people don't explain.

Someone in my life has had almost lifelong issues with asking for what he wants which sometimes translates into lots of fear around standing up for what he knows is right. Since he too has a Life Is a School attitude, he uses his well-developed Observer to watch himself go through the fear and ineffective thoughts, feelings and behaviors when something like car trouble comes up.

He has a manufacturer warranty, a warranty from the local car place he bought the car from and additionally he bought a 4-year warranty to add onto all of that. Last week the car broke down and he has not had the use of it for a week.

After he went through all the thoughts and judgments and feelings about being a lousy car chooser (when he loves his reputation as a great researcher and knower about cars) he was up against his fear of standing up for what he wants - one of the three companies to get on the stick and get the car fixed for him.

This morning he continued his work on changing his thoughts and feelings about all of this - determined to overcome his reticence and this is what happened:
  • He went to work and immediately ran into a former attorney he knows who told him how to take the case to small claims court if need be

  • He called the local dealer where the car is and found out the process for repair has begun and he should have the car by tomorrow!

  • Conclusions : he created a different outcome by working on his thoughts and feelings and his Observer was able to help him with that.

So what's the part that few people talk about when they teach Law of Attraction?

  1. your thoughts create your feelings and

  2. your feelings create your vibration and your creations will match your vibration but

  3. they never seem to tell you about the Life Is a School attitude which helps you create more and more expanded awareness. It helps you become aware of the objective Observer that lives in our consciousness which allows you to stay out of denial and let's you know how you are creating.
