Life Coaches Can Help You Take an Objective Look at Why You Aren'tMoving Forward

Your Life Coach Can Help You with Procrastination

Life sure does seem to be happening faster and faster. Can a life coach help with any of this?
telephone-06
Maybe it's my age but I hear lots of younger people voice the same observation. For whatever reason, no matter how fast-paced your life seems to be, you may still feel like you are spinning your wheels and getting nothing done and getting nowhere.

Whether you procrastinate and put off the important things you need to do or if you constantly seem to come up against a brick wall at every turn, sometimes it takes someone else to help you look at your life situation with an objective eye and see what some of the underlying issues may be. Sometimes it's self doubt and low self esteem. Sometimes it's just a shortage of needed skills. Maybe it's a combination of both.

Fear and self doubt may blind you to what is really happening. Feelings and emotions may be in the way and you may never grow past these issues and become prosperous and self-respecting. If you are working hard and still feel like you are getting nowhere, a life coach could be the key to helping you see what the issues are that are standing in your way and moving forward past them to a whole new future. Make a serious commitment now and deal with the situation before it is too late and you have missed many incredible opportunities. Go pick up the phone.

The Scariest Word in the English Language: CHANGE!

Benefits of Working with a Life Coach

changeAlthough dealing with change in our lives is not easy, it is necessary and there is no getting around it.  Your life will change all the time in hundreds of different ways and the only thing that you can control is how you handle the changes.

If you are not happy with your life, get over your fears, your past, your self-doubt and CHANGE IT.  The key is to sit down and figure out what exactly it is that you do want and what actions you need to take to change it.  For most of us having that conversation alone in your head doesn't seem to work out very well. It's usually helpful and even necessary to have the help of a good friend or a life coach so that you will be honest and thorough with yourself.

Remember, what you think you want now will probably change many times throughout the course of your life. But all this change will help you find out how to deal with change.

Dealing with change begins with acceptance of the current situation. Work with a life coach or a therapist if you can't reach acceptance yourself. Since life brings constant change, the inner resources to deal with change need to be developed.

Daily start to look for what you have to be grateful for in your life instead of focusing on your struggle and negative mind chatter. The basis of an inability to deal with change is fear. Try to "be with" the situation and the feelings. Stop resisting. You know the old saw: What you resist, persists.

Know that the changes you are going through you have created in your life with the way you think and change your thinking to match your goals and soon change becomes fun and easy as the changes with which you are succeeding and following through on, will help you accomplish your goals. The Law of Attraction says "like attracts like". Prolonged focus on negative thoughts and feelings will attract more negative change into your life. It's time to turn 180o and pursue the exciting adventure that is your life.

6 Reasons to Hire a Life Coach

moseslifecoachThere are many reasons that having a life coach is a beneficial thing. It brings an objective voice to your life that has (hopefully – see NOAGNDA ) no other agenda to follow other than to help you find and achieve what you want in your life.

Friends and family can be great support but they don’t always agree with what you actually want and may feel that they know what would be best for you and make you happy. A coach (again, hopefully) will never do this.
  • A life coach can help you pull your life out of a rut that you may be stuck in. You may find yourself bored and not enjoying your life or your work anymore. A life coach can help you figure out why and how to fix it.
  • Another way a life coach can help you is by helping to organize your goals so that you can actually get what you want and not just dream about it. Many people seem to have lost their vision in life and feel like they have no purpose.
  • Life coaching can help pull your purpose back out of you and get you back on track.
  • Many people turn to a life coach during big transitions in their life such as retirement, job change or divorce. Coaches often have or create in the moment tools to help you keep your coaching-acquired skills as you leave your coaching experience and continue on with your life.
  • People looking for more passion or value in their life may turn to a coach to help explore why these things are missing in your life.
  • Another reason someone may turn to a life coach is if they have been engaging in destructive behaviors , a coach may be able to help them figure out why and make some changes.

Life Coaching - Commiting Yourself Before You Begin

Life Coaching - Commit Before You Jump

Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 6.31.42 AMBefore you spend your hard earned money on life coaching, make sure that you think very carefully about it. Coaching is an investment. It can be expensive and if you are going to spend your money on it, be ready to make the investment of your time and energy into it. A life coach can only do their part to help you find your own answers and help you come up with the actions necessary to reach your goals.
  • You have to answer the questions.
  • You have to work on goal  setting.
A coach can only give the tools to work with; you have to do the work on your own and if you are not going to follow through and do it, then coaching is a waste of your time and money. Don't fool yourself. You will only end up feeling badly about yourself and probably feel badly about life coaching as a profession. You will think, "It didn't work." I used to be in 12-Step programs where they often said, "It works if you work it". The same is true for coaching.

And, if you are going to make the investment, it is worth your time to research coaches. Find a life coach that you are comfortable with and that you will open up and be honest with. A coach can't help you if you aren't honest with them about what your goals are and what you are hoping to accomplish - and most importantly who you really are. And if you are unsure of that, the right life coach can help you uncover your Real Self. Life coaching is a wonderful way to continue your life journey - with a partner.

Hiring a Life Coach - How Does Life Coaching Work?

FAQ - How does life coaching work?

Every single person could benefit from having a competent life coach to guide them and help them plan their life. It is no coincidence that high paid, high performing sports, business and spiritual people all have coaches in their lives.

seeds-of-greatness1How does life coaching work? The life coach helps them stay organized and focused to figure out what their goals are and what the best way is to accomplish them. They help you plan and keep track of your progress and keep you motivated.

Many people coaches feel that one of the best features of having a life coach to work with is the fact that someone is holding you accountable to do what you say you are going to do. Lots of people set goals for themselves and make a plan but with only themselves to answer to, it is very easy to put it off and procrastinate. In most cases, the goals fall by the wayside and life goes on without them ever getting what they really want. But if you are paying a life coach to help you, they will expect you to follow your plan and when you meet with them they will encourage you and motivate you to continue.

Maybe this is all true for many but in my experience of clients they put things off and procrastinate because they don't see themselves as BIG enough to accomplish what they want to. They don't believe they can. So, for me, the best thing about having a coach is having one who sees your greatness and holds you accountable to that vision!

Why Is Life Coaching Growing?

150-speed_of_lightMany people have an attitude that "competition is heavy in today's world and everybody needs to take advantage of any edge they can get to get ahead and live the life that they would like."

Some people feel that attitude, this is why life coaching is growing by leaps and bounds.

It may be that the growth of life coaching is happening, in part, because people focus on this feeling of fierce competition. The need to feel more secure in life but certainly another reason for the growth in the industry is that life coaching is right up there with really good therapy to produce results (without dredging up why and how there is a problem). Life coaching mostly skips the past part and centers on changing the situation in the now.

The life coaching industry is no different than the mental health industry and there are many coaches to choose from as there are many therapists and counselors to choose from.

If you hire a coach and this service in important in your life and an expensive investment, be sure to  find a life coach that you feel a strong connection with and who has the skills to help you get where you want to go or help you clarify where you do want to go.

For many, it is best to interview a few before you decide on one to make sure you feel comfortable with them. Although if your intuition says "yes" at the first one, you can probably trust it.

You might even get client testimonials from a perspective coach and see how others felt about the services they received.

Because all consciousness grows and is growing now at a speed none of us can really understand, it really isn't a surprise that a profession that generally focuses on increasing the speed of personal and spiritual growth would be zooming right along also.

What Does Being a Life Coach Have to Do with Personal Power?

I see the role as life coach very simply today.  Show clients their personal power.

My job is to show my clients how to clear their path and their self view of all that says they are less than - less than deserving of material goods; less than deserving of the relationships they want with friends, family and significant other; less than deserving of anything they want.

Someone must have told us that it's only OK to want a certain amount. So a certain amount is what we get. Additionally, it is hard for us humans to remember that we came here for a purpose. In its broadest sense we came here (here being Planet Earth) to learn some other things in addition to our worthiness, our own personal power. What we learn appears to be our own choice.

For example, a client I'm working with is working on letting go of guilt and responsibility around her adult children. We spoke today about how when we enable other adults, we might keep them from growing into the wonderful humans they are in the process of becoming. When we enable other adults and rescue them from themselves, they never get to see their own inner resources or personal power nor seek the support they may decide they need or even fail and learn and grow from that.

We also spoke about the agreements we appear to make on some spiritual level in which we act in certain ways for our children's growth and they do the same for us. Therefore everyone is in agreement. No one is a victim.

I have no idea how I developed the gift of being able to teach, model, intuit all that I do with clients but it appears to be an ever-developing gift. It sure is fun to be able to see, speak and help those people who want to grow in awareness and expand their lives. I love watching the magic of transformation as it occurs.   I love holding the hand of those I work with and becoming part of their magnificent unfolding.  I love seeing those I help exercise their own personal power for their own growth and benefit. It also keeps me aware of my own.

Now that you're done, I have one thing left I'd like you to do.

Are You Coachable?

open-doorNot every person is right for life coaching. If you don't believe that you can learn and grow from life coaching than you won't and you are wasting your money.

Also it is important to choose the right coach when you are thinking about life coaching, but just as important is determining if you are truly coachable. If not, you will also be wasting your money. You must believe that the process can help you and you must be willing to commit the time and effort to the process.

You need to be able to learn how to look inside yourself and be honest with yourself and your coach. Don't try to take over as the coach and coach yourself. It won't work. You obviously felt the need to hire the coach at some point for some reason. Let them do what you hired them for. They have the experience, the outside perspective and the tools to help you and that is why you hired them. Work with the coach instead of against and the coaching could change your life forever.

For example, Betty called me and wanted to work on relationships. She had a boyfriend who didn't seem to feel about her the way she felt about him. As we began our coaching relationship, I tried to find out about her past relationships to help her see her patterns. But all she wanted me to do was tell her how to get her boyfriend to like her more. That's not coaching. If she had wanted to look at herself, the ways she might be getting  in her own way or the ways she didn't value herself enough and stayed in a relationship like she was in, we could have made some coaching progress. As it was, she was not coachable.

It is said that coaches need to be coachable also. My understanding of that is that I need to keep my ego out of the mix, support my client's point of view and be open to when I have it all wrong. That's being coachable.

Life Coaching Fees - What Do They Say About the Coach?

Screen Shot 2013-10-15 at 6.44.08 AMLife coaching is becoming more popular, but most people still think they can't afford it. 10 years ago when there weren't many life coaches, life coaching fees were outrageous. Today, more people have gotten into personal development and self improvement, and many have gone on to become life coaches. Fees have decreased but some still think it pricey. An hour-long session can cost from $40 to more than $500. Many coaches require a three-month or longer commitment to start and you're likely to talk with them once a week, in person or by phone.

A few words about my fees and commitment. I've decided awhile back not to put fees on my site. It's so easy for your mind to think, "I can't afford that". Often it isn't about that. What it's really about is not being sure YOU are worth it - not whether life coaching is worth it. Anything that will move you forward and give you new tools to live a more effective life is worth it. But I now think part of why I didn't put my fees on my site was because I was scared someone wouldn't call. Now I know if it's meant to be, they will call and we will work out the fee part if it comes to that. S

Then there's commitment. I now require this commitment of new clients: they continue coaching until we both agree that they got what they came for which for me says they will be coaching with me for 8 months minimum because that is all I require and that is how long it takes to graduate from YOU University.

The way to find out if someone really has experience and is suitable to coach you is to take advantage of the usually offered sample session, look at their website and/or have an extensive conversation with them to determine not only their fit with you but their background in dealing with what you want to deal with.

As in most things in life, cheaper is most often not better. As a matter of fact, since life coaches are particularly interested in their own growth journey, it is often a sign of someone who has some self esteem issues themselves if the price is too low.

Because of my background and my ability to read energy and often emotional content like an emotional detective over the phone I was most recently able to decide not to use a very nice woman to help me with website design and branding. Here were my 4 red flags:
  1. Her price was very low (although I liked some of her sample designs).

  2. She has a full time job and only does this work part time.

  3. When I called her very enthusiastically, she didn't pick up on my "buying" signs.

  4. She was too understanding and nice. It didn't feel authentic.
And here's what I have to say about each one - my "take", so to speak:

  1. I like a bargain like anyone else but she was too willing to give her talent away.

  2. Anyone thriving in their branding business, would be making enough money to do what they loved all day. Branding is about how to market yourself - and she hadn't really figured out how to market herself, so how could she help me?

  3. Because of my "jump before I think" way of doing things sometimes, if she had really been tuned into me, she probably would have had me as a client right then and there because I hadn't thought through #1 and #2.

  4. She never really coached me which a strong coach would do even on the first call.
So can a new life coach get a start? Sure. They just have to have enough self esteem to be able to say, "I'm new at life coaching which is why I'm offering my services at a low rate but I have talent and I'll be able to help you in the following ways......."

So if you speak to a coach whose fees are low, now you know what you want to know about them.YOU University Coaching/Life Coach Training and Life Coaching

Is High Self Esteem Feeling Competent or Feeling Worthwhile?

High Self Esteem = Competence AND Worth

highselfesteem

What is high self-esteem? Some say it’s the feeling of personal competence. Some say the feeling of personal worth. Or is it both? I say both.

Ask yourself the following questions to determine the areas where you may need to examine find your level of high self-esteem:

Am I able to earn my living doing what I enjoy? Does what I do to earn a living improve or take away from my self esteem?
  • Do I know how to give and receive love? Or do I get stepped on and used in my relationships.
  • Do I have wonderful friends? Or are my friends undermining and backbiting?
  • Do I take good care of myself physically? Or do I eat poorly, sleep little or too much and do no exercise?
  • Do I earn an income that is appropriate my age? Or do I go from one low-paying job to another?
Even if you answer positively for four out of the five of your answers, one area of your life that isn't working the way you'd like it to is enough to throw your life out of balance and negatively effect you high self esteem. Be honest with yourself. Do something for yourself. Think about hiring a life coach and focus in particular on the area you need a boost on.

When you have high self esteem you can accomplish what you want to in your life. When you have high self esteem you can stick to what you want to accomplish – even if it takes years. As one who suffered from low self esteem, I know how long and hard it can be but I also know the rewards of high self esteem.

As an example, in three major areas of my life, I’ll give you a little synopsis:

Relationships – from a really long and bad first marriage with two partners with clear self esteem issues,  I now have a long-term marriage with two of us feeling good about ourselves.

Career – from floundering around doing jobs I was either over or under-qualified for, I now know my talents and how to use them.

Self-care - from years of overweight and health problems I now am actually tired of my clothes because they keep fitting me.

Obviously that is not every area of my life but I think it is quite easy to see that having high self esteem makes all the difference in the world in life.

If I can do it, so can you.

How a Coach Can Help You to Build a Sense of Trust

Trust Builds One Little Notch at a Time

trustEach time you tell a person how you feel and they don't reject your for it, trust builds. Not only that - you will have a relationship based on who you authentically are. No mask to come off later and disappoint the other person because they thought you were someone else - the one with the mask.

Anyone who is attracted to reading something called  How a coach can help you to build a sense of trust most likely has some trust issues. Those issues impact us in many ways. Following are some examples:

Personal relationships - "What if I'm myself and you leave me?" That is often the basic reason people get into poor relationships in the first place. They ignore their own inner knowledge of themselves by acting how they think the other wants them to act.

Work relationships - "Can I really allow myself to trust anyone who I don't know well or in a job situation?"  They don't trust people to be supportive and authentic.

Making decisions - "I'm really not sure what to do." They have a hard time because they don't trust themselves.

How can a life coach help you with these difficult situations?

When you talk to someone weekly who always supports your agenda, tells you the way they see things in your life quite openly and who has an attitude that your answers are in you, you begin to trust that person.

When that life coach also keeps pointing out the ways your attitudes and emotional responses are right, you begin to trust that person more. And you begin to trust yourself more.

As you experience success after success in support of yourself, you eventually become a trusting person because you know you have the information inside you that will steer you where you want to go in your life. You will know if a person is trustworthy in your personal and work relationships and you will trust yourself to make decisions.

That is one of the things an experience of life coaching can provide you.

The Importance of Emotional Health

The Importance of Emotional Health

My family knows what my life is about. They know that I am a big proponent of authentic expression of feelings in pursuit of mental, spiritual and emotional health. With that in mind, my daughter sent me to this site: We Feel Fine . Their mission is as follows:
Mission

We Feel Fine is an exploration of human emotion on a global scale.
Since August 2005, We Feel Fine has been harvesting human feelings from a large number of weblogs. Every few minutes, the system searches the world's newly posted blog entries for occurrences of the phrases "I feel" and "I am feeling". When it finds such a phrase, it records the full sentence, up to the period, and identifies the "feeling" expressed in that sentence (e.g. sad, happy, depressed, etc.). Because blogs are structured in largely standard ways, the age, gender, and geographical location of the author can often be extracted and saved along with the sentence, as can the local weather conditions at the time the sentence was written. All of this information is saved.

The result is a database of several million human feelings, increasing by 15,000 - 20,000 new feelings per day. Using a series of playful interfaces, the feelings can be searched and sorted across a number of demographic slices, offering responses to specific questions like: do Europeans feel sad more often than Americans? Do women feel fat more often than men? Does rainy weather affect how we feel? What are the most representative feelings of female New Yorkers in their 20s? What do people feel right now in Baghdad? What were people feeling on Valentine's Day? Which are the happiest cities in the world? The saddest? And so on.

The interface to this data is a self-organizing particle system, where each particle represents a single feeling posted by a single individual. The particles' properties – color, size, shape, opacity – indicate the nature of the feeling inside, and any particle can be clicked to reveal the full sentence or photograph it contains. The particles careen wildly around the screen until asked to self-organize along any number of axes, expressing various pictures of human emotion. We Feel Fine paints these pictures in six formal movements titled: Madness, Murmurs, Montage, Mobs, Metrics, and Mounds.

At its core, We Feel Fine is an artwork authored by everyone. It will grow and change as we grow and change, reflecting what's on our blogs, what's in our hearts, what's in our minds. We hope it makes the world seem a little smaller, and we hope it helps people see beauty in the everyday ups and downs of life.
It is my experience that feelings and thought walk hand in hand to create our vibration.  The emotional health of our vibrations is how the Universe decides what to send our way. Do you attract fabulous stuff? Do you attract not so fabulous stuff? Your creation is dependent upon your emotional health.
